Abubakir Rahimi and Pari Khezri left a pizza franchise in 2013 to open their own place and cook the Middle Eastern recipes they grew up on. Thirteen years later, it's seven locations across KW, Cambridge, Guelph and North York — same family, same recipes, same spit turning from ten in the morning to ten at night.
Carved since 2013
Carved to order, every minute, from ten in the morning to ten at night — seven days a week, since 2013.
The honest version — no "passion project" filler. Pari and Abubakir had already run a pizza franchise. They wanted to cook the food from home instead.
Double Taste is family-owned and run by Abubakir Rahimi and Pari Khezri — a husband-and-wife duo with more than 25 years in the restaurant industry between them. After years running a franchised pizza place, they decided in 2013 to take a risk and open their own private restaurant instead.
Being of Iranian descent, they settled on Middle Eastern and Mediterranean recipes with Iranian and Western influence — the food they actually grew up eating. That first shop opened in Kitchener in 2013. Today there are seven, across Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph and North York — all still using the same recipe book Pari worked out in that first kitchen.
None of them are franchises. There is no corporate office. If the garlic sauce isn't right at a location, it's because someone Pari trained personally hasn't made a batch in a while — and she'll hear about it.
Every location is open 10am to 10pm, seven days a week. Kitchens close ten minutes before — please don't be the person banging on the door at 9:58 for a shawarma plate.
Easier to list what's not open — nothing. Call the location nearest you, or order a wrap on your delivery app of choice and keep scrolling through whatever show you're watching.
